ACTIONS OF THE MAIN HERBS
Angelica polymorpha root is used orally in formulas for both men and women as a blood tonic, also to improve blood circulation, and as a muscle building blood tonic for men. It is most commonly used as a women’s tonic to build the blood and to regulate the menstrual cycle. It has been shown to have immune stimulant, vasodilator, antianemic, cardiotonic, antilipemic, and hepatoprotective actions. Epimedium herb is used orally in formulas for impotence, involuntary ejaculation, weak back and knees, arthralgia, mental and physical fatigue, memory loss, hypertension, coronary heart disease, bronchitis, chronic hepatitis, polio, chronic leukopenia, viral myocarditis, and as a tonic and aphrodisiac. It has beenshown to have androgenic, immune stimulant, cardiotonic, anti- nflammatory, expectorant, antitussive, hypotensive, antibacterial and antiviral actions.
DOSAGE & COURSE OF TREATMENT
8 - 12 pills, 3 times daily, half to one hour away from food. In severe cases and in the early stages of treatment (first 2 - 4 weeks) the dosage may be increased by 50 - 100%. Course of treatment: 3 to 6 months.
CAUTIONS & CONTRAINDICATIONS
Caution for those on anti-coagulant medications (i.e. Heparin, warfarin or aspirin), diuretics and NSAIDs. Discontinue during an episode of common cold or influenza.
