Vitamin C is an important nutrient for humans that cannot by synthesised in the body. Vitamin C 1000 Plus provides 1g of vitamin C in a low acid form to support healthy immune system function.

Vitamin C and zinc support prostate and reproductive system health in males. They also maintain sperm health and motility.

Vitamin C supports blood vessel, blood capillary and bone health.

Vitamin C and zinc help connective tissue formation and maintain skin health.

Zinc is an important trace mineral that is involved in over 300 chemical reactions in the body. A diet high in plant foods can impact zinc absorption. Vitamin C 1000 Plus contains 8mg of zinc to support wound healing and metabolism of protein, carbohydrates and fats.

Vitamin C 1000 Plus contains antioxidants that reduce free radicals in the body.

Vitamin C forms part of the antioxidant network, helping to regenerate vitamin E.

Vitamin C supports the absorption of dietary iron.

  • Sodium ascorbate 562.4mg (equiv. ascorbic acid (vitamin C) 500mg)
  • Citrus bioflavonoids extract 50mg
  • Zinc amino acid chelate (equiv. zinc 8mg)
  • Rutoside (rutin) 5mg
  • Hesperidin 5mg

Adults and children over 12 years: Take 1 tablet, one to three times a day, with food, or as directed by your health professional.

Does not contain egg, milk, peanut, soy, tree nuts, animal products, gluten, lactose or artificial colours, flavours or preservatives.

DRUG INTERACTIONS:

Caution with chemotherapeutic agents - evidence regarding the use of vitamin C in conjunction with chemotherapy treatment is still emerging. Use only under medical supervision.

Caution with warfarin and anticoagulant/antiplatelet medication - high dose vitamin C may theoretically increase bleeding risk. Monitor.

Caution with aluminium based antacids - vitamin C increases the amount of aluminium absorbed.

Separate dose by 2 hours.

Caution with NSAIDs, cephalexin, penicillamine and quinolone antibiotics and tetracycline antibiotics. Zinc forms complexes with these drugs, reducing the absorption of both. Separate dose by 3 hours.

Caution with amiloride (diuretic) - drug reduces zinc excretion and can lead to zinc accumulation.

Vitamin C can reduce the absorption of cyanocobalamin (B12). Separate dose by 2 hours.

CAUTIONS:

Use with caution if there is a history of renal impairment or renal calculi (kidney stones) as vitamin C (ascorbic acid) may increase the risk of recurrence of calcium oxalate calculi.

Caution in iron overload conditions, such as haemochromatosis, an vitamin C can increase iron absorption.

SIDE EFFECTS:

Zinc may cause mild gastrointestinal side effects when taken on an empty stomach (usually only seen in higher doses).
