Liver Care contains St Mary\s thistle, a herb well-known for its hepatoprotectant activity. St Mary\s thistle is standardised to contain silybin, the active constituent thought to be responsible for the herbs beneficial activity.

Liver Care contains Dandelion, traditionally used in Western herbal medicine to support liver health and relieve symptoms of indigestion.

Dandelion is traditionally used in Western herbal medicine to promote bile flow from the gall bladder, stimulate gastric secretions, improve digestive weakness and relieve constipation.

DRUG INTERACTIONS:

Caution with any medication, as Liver Care can improve liver function,and therefore may affect how drugs are metabolised. As a general rule, take 2 hours apart from other medications.

Contraindicated with morphine - St Mary's thistle may affect serum levels of morphine and increase or decrease its effect.

Contraindicated with sirolimus (immunosuppressant) - Schisandra increases drug concentrations in the blood, increasing the risk of adverse events.

Caution with hypoglycaemic medications - St Mary's thistle may have additive effects. Monitor, dose adjustments may be necessary.

Caution with tamoxifen - St Mary's thistle may increase plasma levels of tamoxifen.

Caution with warfarin and other anticoagulant/ antiplatelet drugs - St Mary's thistle may affect drug metabolism. Monitor.

Caution with darunavir/ritonavir (antiretroviral medication) - St Mary's thistle may affect drug metabolism.

Caution with Midazolam (benzodiazepine) - Schisandra increases amount of drug in the body, increasing the risk of side effects.

CAUTIONS:

Contraindicated during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Specificsafety data is lacking, however, it is not recommended to stimulate detoxification during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

Not recommended in people with peptic ulcer disease, excessive stomach acidity, bile duct obstruction or other gall bladder conditions.

SIDE EFFECTS:

May cause mild laxative effects, nausea, dyspepsia, flatulence, bloating or hunger in sensitive individuals.
