Organic Iron MAX contains iron as Ferrochel™ (ferrous bisglycinate), an organic form of iron that is highly bioavailable and gentle on the digestive system.

Iron, folate and vitamin B12 maintain haemoglobin formation and assist healthy red blood cell production to support blood health.

Iron and vitamin B12 support the transport of oxygen in the body and help oxygen transport to body tissues.

Organic Iron MAX supports energy production and nervous system health and aids the synthesis of neurotransmitters.

Organic Iron MAX is formulated with vitamin C, to support the absorption of dietary iron, and Spirulina, a blue-green algae rich in iron.

WARNINGS:

Not for the treatment of iron deficiency conditions. Vitamin and mineral supplements should not replace a balanced diet.

DRUG INTERACTIONS:

Contraindicated with streptomycin and aminoglycoside antibiotics - coadministration with iron can magnify unwanted drug side effects.

Caution with ACE inhibitors (hypertension), cimetidine (hyperacidity), L-dopa and carbidopa (movement disorders e.g. Parkinson's disease), penicillamine, sulfasalazine (antidiarrheal) - iron supplementation may reduce drug absorption. Separate dose by at least 2 hours.

Caution with quinolone and tetracycline antibiotics - iron supplementation may reduce drug effect. Take drugs 2 hours before or 4-6 hours after iron.

Caution with thyroxine - iron supplementation can reduce drug effects. Separate doses by at least 2-4 hours and monitor thyroid levels.

Caution with antacids - coadministration may reduce iron absorption and vitamin C may increase the amount of aluminium absorbed from these medications. Separate doses by at least 2 hours.

Caution with amiodarone - vitamin B6 may increase the risk of drug induced photosensitivity. Separate doses by at least 2hrs.

Caution with methotrexate - folic acid supplement can effect drug efficiancy. Use only under the supervision of a health professional.

CAUTIONS:

Iron, calcium and zinc all compete for absorption. Separate dose.

Contraindicated in iron overload conditions, such as haemochromatosis, haemosiderosis and iron loading anaemias such as thalassaemia and sideroblastic anaemia.

SIDE EFFECTS:

Iron supplements are known to cause gastrointestinal disturbances such as nausea, diarrhoea, constipation, heartburn and upper gastric discomfort and may cause stools to blacken. However, Ferrochel is gentle on digestion so side-effects are not expected.
